Morzine for Non-Skiers

After all that skiing, it’s understandable that your legs might get tired and you need to give them a break from your skis or snowboard. Or maybe, you don’t ski at all.

The fun doesn’t have to stop, Morzine isn’t all about skiing you know! There’s a variety of amazing activities on offer that don’t involve skiing but are still guaranteed to get your blood pumping. Here are the top activities in Morzine that you need to try.

Husky Sledging

If you think sledging may be fun but you aren’t enthused by the hard work that is needed, then husky sledging may be for you. Many companies around Morzine offer this activity to book, and it makes for a great, fast-paced tour of the scenery in Portes du Soleil. Many companies cater to younger children with this activity so it can make a fantastic family experience.

Ice Hockey

Looking for a thrill but your legs are a little achy? Sit back and watch the action instead by going to see Morzine’s ice hockey team “The Penguins” play at the Palais des Sport. The atmosphere is incredible, there’s beer and hot dogs provided, and you’ll be warm and toasty despite the frosty activity. You can buy tickets in advance online or at the door.

Ice Diving

Morzine is a beautiful place to visit all year round, and the lakes make the perfect backdrop for a hot drink by the water’s edge. However, you may be surprised to know that there is lots going on underneath the surface too! For around 85€, you can have the opportunity to dive below the ice and meet the weird and wonderful creatures that live there. Beginners are accompanied by an instructor, whereas more experienced divers can explore the water on their own.

Snowmobile Ride

If you are an adrenaline junkie, then a snowmobile ride will be right up your street. Jump on a skidoo and race through woods, tracks, and snow covered fields on a guided area especially reserved for skidoos. The journey itself is around 4km and you can ride with a partner or do it alone at your own pace. The activity usually lasts around an hour so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it!

Swimming

If you’re looking for relaxation, the local swimming pools are ideal for a bit of calm. You can head to the saunas to ease aches and pains, or take the kids and enjoy a family day out on the splash pools. Open every day from 10am (2pm on weekends), it’s a great filler activity for a lazy day.

Dinner in an Igloo

Feeling peckish? How about a tour-hosted dinner in an igloo? You’ll be led by Guides on a short shoeshoe walk at nightime, where you’ll find your very own igloo in amongst the trees. A fondue will be prepared inside and you’ll be able to eat under the stars before a short walk back.
